Like Mattea, Chase was turned from an oak tree that had been lying in a forest in Germany for many years before I brought a few pieces back to my studio.

The same warm, honey-colored tones run through this piece, giving it a sense of warmth and calm that I find deeply appealing. Every now and then, a piece of wood arrives with a color that feels just right, and Chase is one of those pieces.

What I enjoy most about this bowl is its lightness. Despite its generous size, it feels delicate and surprisingly light in the hands. The thin walls, rather sharp curves, and warm oak tones work together to create an object that feels effortless and inviting.

The tree had already lived a long life before it reached my workshop, and perhaps that is why Chase carries such a quiet confidence. It asks for very little attention, yet rewards those who take the time to notice its details.

A beautiful piece of oak with a story that began long before it found its way onto my lathe.
